A quirky little bar, with a nice seating area overlooking the river aire.
Good selection of international beers and spirits behind the bar, staff are very polite and helpful.
Food is good, we had the halloumi burger and pulled pork burger with sweet potato fries - both very tasty and arrived within 10 minutes!
Added bonus - this place is cheap as chips!!
Have promised myself a trip here since i heard the twisted burger company were setting up here.
Havent been to Aire bar for a while, as much as i like the bar i always found it seriously understaffed and i didnt really rate the food. The staffing levels have improved dramatically, 2 waitreses just for food as well as extra staff on the bar. I really like not having to order my food at the bar.
The seating is well arranged, lots of tables and chairs and lovely big squishy sofas. A nice effect is that there is a separate dining area if you dont want to be in the bar area. There is also the lovely decked balcony.
The twisted burger company, have started a residency at the bar.
The biggest problem with the burgers was the huge range and the massive choice of toppings. I opted for the smokin joe frazier, a lovely double chicken patty with bacon, american cheese and a lovely smokey bbq sauce all served in a brioche bun. I opted for sweet potato fries as a side
Just fabulous. .
This review is for Twisted Burger Co rather than the pub itself.
Twisted Burger Company have opened up residency at aire bar, with the aim of building on the success of their operations at the Harley in Sheffield (great pub venue btw).
The idea is fast food style burgers done well, rather than gourmet style thick slabs of beef, and this is reflected in the menu with lots of intersting choices and american style sides (jalapeno poppers, 'slaw' rather than coleslaw).
The burgers are the star of the show, juicy despite being thin (every burger comes with at least two pattys), fantastic brioche bun, tasty sauces and toppings. Its the best burger I've tasted in Leeds. Everything is totally customizable and you can build a burger with your own toppings for a pretty similar price to the main menu items which is refreshing to see.
One thing to note which isnt entirely clear, the chicken burgers contain pattys rather than chicken breast. Theyre certainly different but personally im not convinced it works, id much prefer a real chicken breast any day of the week. There is also a pork/bacon burger which again contains a patty formed of pork/bacon, these never work in my opinion and I cant say I was taken by the bite I tried stick to the beef (although I hear the Falaf-HELL burger is a fantastic vegi option).
The sides are pretty good, the chips are crispy, and the portions are excellent. The coleslaw is fairly standard, however their no may asian slaw is interesting and pretty damn tasty. Best bet is to order a few different ones between a group and dig in!
The staff are clearly new and learning to deal with everything so at times it was a little slow, but thats expected with a new place and likely to improve with time.
Will definitely be back soon!
